Welcoming Samantha Van den Broek to Crimson Oak Strategies

Crimson Oak Strategies is proud to announce that Samantha Van den Broek has joined our team as a Senior Compliance Consultant, bringing more than 20 years of financial services experience and over 13 years specializing in compliance, risk management, and regulatory oversight.

Samantha's career reflects the full arc of credit union operations. She began on the front line as a teller and financial services representative, moved into consumer lending and compliance training, and advanced into senior compliance roles at North Island Credit Union and San Diego County Credit Union. She later broadened her expertise as a Compliance Officer at Reese Law Group, a professional law corporation, where she managed the firm's compliance management program across consumer collections and insurance subrogation — navigating the specialized regulatory demands of FDCPA, state collection laws, and client-specific standards. Most recently, she served as a Compliance & Risk Officer at Achieve, overseeing compliance programs across lending and debt resolution.

That progression — from teller to compliance & risk officer — is exactly what makes Samantha's perspective so valuable. She has personally built and managed compliance management programs, conducted risk assessments, overseen third-party vendor risk, developed policies and training, and led audit and exam response. She is deeply fluent in the regulatory landscape credit unions face, from NCUA operating regulations and BSA/AML to the full suite of federal consumer financial regulations, and brings unusually strong expertise in consumer lending and collections compliance — an area where many credit unions carry real risk exposure.

Samantha holds the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation — one of the most respected credentials in the compliance profession — and has completed both NAFCU Compliance School and CUNA Compliance School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Law & Society from the University of California, San Diego.

Known for a practical, collaborative approach, Samantha excels at translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable solutions.
